Waverly World

It's a big beautiful world.

Yeah, so…

The blog has been a bit bare lately. That’s putting it mildly I know.

Lately all I have had time for is posting quick snapshots straight from the iPhone and maybe a few quotes here and there when I can’t sleep late at night. Right now Waverly and I are attached at the hands (literally everywhere we GO) which makes it quite difficult to capture the moments via any sort of camera.

Here’s whats BIG in Waverly World these days-

*Walking everywhere holding only one of Mommy’s hands (such a big girl)

*Eating…all the time. Snacks on the hour it seems and favorite meal items include bananas, blueberries, cheese, any bread of any type, and especially grilled cheese.

*Pointing and talking - at and about everything. Not sure exactly what but we ad-lib.

*Major teething. We welcomed a new tooth on the bottom two weeks ago and I believe she’s got 2 or 3 waiting in the wings getting ready to pop on thru (eeek)

*Awaiting the arrival of cousin #2! Baby Kenna is due any second now and we can’t wait to add another girl to the family playgroup.

…a lot of activity going on over here. By the end of most days I’m wiped out to be honest. I’m sure I have no clue what I’m talking about (says the Moms of 2 or more) but right now it feels like a lot. So I will do my best to keep Waverly World fresh and updated b/c Lord knows W sure produces a lot of memorable moments right now.

Yesterday I heard a speaker say…

That babies can seem extremely irritable and extra fussy right before a milestone is reached (crawling, walking, talking etc.)

And boy do I believe her. Part of me wants Waverly to start walking up a storm because I know it will make her happy. The other 75% of me isn’t ready for any of that craziness.

So Moms - don’t go nuts. If baby is a handful it’s probably due to a growth spurt. It will (hopefully) be followed by a peaceful time of happy baby.

That’s what she said anyway…

Waverly is so excited about learning to sit up all by herself…

that she keeps doing it mid-nap in the crib and waking herself up!

My days of the 2 hour nap are over I’m afraid. Must learn to read/watchTV/shower quicker.

I turn my back for one day…

and W becomes a toddler.

Seriously. Major milestones this past week.

- Lowered the crib after waking this morning to Waverly ‘sitting’ up in the crib playing with her bear and thinking about pulling up on the side.

- Completely weaned herself from breastfeeding. She’s done…on to bottles and big girl food only.

- Finger walking 24/7. All she wants to do. Forget toys…this girl wants to motor!

Last night Hub and I looked at each other after we put Waverly in bed and just said “When did this happen? How did she get so big so fast?”. So last night when W woke up a little fussy in the night we both took turns going in and rocking her…soaking up the baby cuddles she still gives out before she changes her big girl mind.

So why haven’t I been able to blog much lately?

Because I have literally become a human baby ladder.

Waverly wants to climb on me alllll day long. She doesn’t pull up on furniture (thank goodness) but now she only wants to pull up on me non-stop. She has started to really want to walk on her own and so we are probably going to be putting the walker away for good so she doesn’t get confused between walking on her own and walking like a crazy drunk person in the walker.

Any Moms out there that can tell me how long this phase lasts? We are connected at the hip right now! I’m not exactly ready for her to be walking around like a big girl but I’m ready for her to be able to do what she wants to do and not have to cry and get frustrated.

And when did my baby become a full-blown toddler? Geez Louise.

There’s a correlation…

the older Waves gets the more inconsistent my blogging becomes.

Just re-name my blog the ‘Maybe/Maybe Not’ blog because there *may* be a new post…but maybe not. Just depends on how big a handful she was that day…

16 Dec Just looking at her you wouldn’t even know she has an ear infection would you?

Oh yeah…her first official ear ache got diagnosed yesterday. Lucky thing I took her to the doctor just to be safe because I wouldn’t have caught it otherwise. Now we have drops and medicine twice a day to fight this thing…

Gotta love this kind of year! (not)

Waging war against the runny nose…

Our tools for mass destruction of baby snot?

- Boogie Wipes

- Little Noses saline drops

- Vick’s humidifier

- Baby Vick’s rub

- Little Fevers fever reducer

- a rolled up towl pushed under one end of the mattress to create a slight incline for her to sleep on

- a ton of cuddles and patience

Is there anything worse than seeing your little baby trying to breathe through a stuffy nose? Nope. Down with germs!

A hint of a runny nose…

Is there anything scarier to a Mom? W is showing just the tiniest hint of an impending cold and is a fuss-bucket to boot.

Fingers crossed for a healthy household this week. (and a sane Mommy too)

Those thoughts that flitter around the brain @ midnight

A) We are not sending out Christmas cards this year. I got lazy and let it slip by…maybe a fun Christmas Card post to fill the void? TBD.

B) Tomorrow I intend to do a proper post dedicated to W’s 10 month birthday. She’s getting so big and I get anxious if I don’t post updates often that she’ll be another month older & it won’t be documented!

C) Why can’t there be more hours in the day? I have pictures to edit & post, a book I’m dying to finish, sleep I must acquire, and regrettably laundry that is waiting in the wings. Days evaporate it seems.

So what was I saying about sleep? Oh yes…

Full of Thanks and other things…

We have eaten our turkey meal. Waverly is now munching on her Thanksgiving teething biscuit and then promptly heading for a bubble bath after being that those darn biscuits basically form a spa mask on her face by the time she’s done.

We got to spend time with family (including little cousin Ava) and watch football, play pass the baby, and enjoy the much much cooler weather.

Many thankful moments and blessings to celebrate today. I’m thankful for my happy, healthy, and loving family and for the wonderful country we live in. Thankful for my caring and patient husband and for the wonderful Father he is. I’m thankful for our beautiful home, my beautiful car, and for my laptop. I’m thankful to be a Mom and for our puppy Oliver. I’m thankful for great friends and for all the luxuries in my life that I’m so lucky to experience. Thankful…thankful…Warm wishes for a happy Holiday weekend to all of you from our house to yours.
